Hetsteen
Castle Walls is located in the city center of Antwerp and is the main decoration of the embankment of the river Scheldt.
Presumably, the castle walls were built in the 9th century. The castle became a large-scale construction of stone, thus received the name of "The Wall". Translated from the Dutch means "stone". Once the castle was owned by the leader of the First Crusade Godfrey of Bouillon, a little later there was a city residence. In the period from 1303 to 1827, this castle served as a prison. And the way it is today, the castle became the early 16th century.
Castle Walls - is one of those monuments that appear as witnesses before modernity ancient epochs. Today the castle is located in the National Maritime Museum. There is also a monument to Canadian soldiers of World War II monument and the Long Vapper.
