Stoclet Palace

Stoclet palace built in 1905 - 1911 years, located in the territory of the urban commune Woluwe-Saint-Pierre in the central part of Belgium. 

The owner of the mansion - Adolphe Stoclet. He was a railway engineer, later became head of the bank. Stoclet was also a great collector and connoisseur of art. 

The mansion was designed by a talented architect Josef Hoffmann. Financial question did not matter to Adolf, and the architect was able to invite the best artists. The result was a magnificent palace, which is maintained in a single concept to the smallest detail. The materials were used Carrara marble and bronze. Rooms impressive mansion richly decorated interiors. For example, the dining room is decorated with marble mosaics with precious stones. Palace towers decorated with sculptures of Franz Metzner. The building is surrounded by a beautiful garden. 

Now the mansion is a privately owned descendants Stoclet, and therefore closed to the public. However, you can admire this architectural monument outside. Since 2009, the Stoclet Palace is on the list of World Heritage Sites.
